Emin Hâkî is one of the lesser-known figures of the Second Constitutional Era. He is known for a collection of poems titled Îkaz and a prose work titled Taassubun Neticesi yahut Farmason Çocuk. In addition to these two works, his poems and prose have appeared in numerous periodicals. The most comprehensive study on his biography and works is the book Potin and Poetry: The Life and Works of Emin Hâkî, prepared by Erdoğan Erbay, Selâhattin Tozlu, and Tacettin Şimşek. In this book, his poetry collection Îkaz and his poems and prose published in various journals have been compiled, transcribed into the Latin alphabet, and examined in detail. This study, however, focuses on four poems by Emin Hâkî published in the journals Kemâlât, Lem’a, and Nesl-i Atî. The poems are titled “Yemîn,” “Kîn” (Kemâlât), “Türklüğümün Karşısında” (Lem’a), and “Ma’sûmun Temennî-i Şehâdeti” (Nesl-i Ȃtî). These poems are not included in the single poetry collection titled Ȋkâz. Furthermore, they are not included among the poems compiled from periodicals in the independent study titled Potin and Poetry: The Life and Works of Emin Hâkî. This article primarily provides general information about the journals in which the poems were published. The poems in question have been transcribed into the Latin alphabet and analysed in terms of form, content and language. It is clear that the poems are consistent with the National Literature movement, particularly in terms of content. In this respect, this article contributes to the identification and evaluation of Emin Hâkî’s poems.
